Derby Ladies 3’s 0 - 1 Matlock Ladies 2’s
MotM : Claire P 4, Rachel 3, Alex 2
Val, Odders, Steph, Gemma, Ella, 1 each.
So the Roving Reporter is writing for the 3’s today as Val is off walking somewhere! Well, that’s if she can walk after using most of her body parts as well as her stick to stop the ball during the game!
What a lovely warm and sunny day to start the League off with and we were playing a young and nippy Matlock 2’s team, who have always been a good opposition. Although Matlock had most of the pressure our midfield, defence and Gemma were solid and contained each attack, giving a 0-0 scoreline at half time, despite Matlock having a number of
P Corners.
We had a more open passing game in the second half and whilst we did have more possession and attacks in the D, but no P Corners, it was Matlock who broke the stalemate wth a quick turnover attack and, in all fairness, an excellently taken crossed ball to put it passed Gemma for the only goal of the match. Gemma then denied them a second goal later on with a fantastic one handed stick save above head height which was amazing.
As obvious from the spread of the MotM votes the whole team played well and worked hard, but Claire just pipping Rachel to win.
