Having now digested profusion of pizza, cleaned out fish, fed animals and sorted the washing, I can write the epistle of Repton!

REPTON 2NDS 11 - DERBY 3RDS 0

As half term holidays took it's toll on availability this week, we faced our strongest opposition with a slightly weakened side. On a day of defensive necessity we gave Claire to the seconds, and with me side-lined to keep Roz company, were pleased to have Gill doubling up after the 4ths game. Charlotte came in for her first game to add fire in mid-field. Against a swift, skilful and well organised team, we battled well and kept the score to 0-0 till the 23rd minute. By half time we were a creditable 4 down but playing well and with determination. Gemma and Odders were brilliant in defence and Charlotte and Jules managed to engage their keeper in the game, bringing about a good save.

With a shortage of defenders, the substitutions caused problems in the second half. In order to rest tired legs, we had to move Rach back from link where she dominates, and many players ended up in less favourite roles. This created muddles in defence, which Repton used to score 7 more goals. We kept them to only 1 penalty corner this half, and again it was Charlotte who put pressure on the Repton D, but unfortunately we were unable to convert.

Heads remained bravely high, although the prayers for the final whistle could be heard from the side lines. Younger legs of Alex, Ella and "Steph" sprinted round the park, while Jan showed off, beating one of their babies in a sprint in the final minutes, but this really was a lesson in hockey.

Thanks to the parents, who supported and helped us eat the profusion of pizza. I will personally miss this opposition if they get promoted. Scrummy!!

MOM Odders, Jackie and Ruth, 1 vote each. Rach and Ella 2. Alex 4, but won by Gemma with 6.

Well battled girls. We're now well warmed up ready for Staveley.
