Match Report |
Yes, you read it here and correctly. WE WON A GAME. Not only that we were so much in control the score should have been far more. Yippeeee. In Odder's few but meaningful words, we had many firsts. (and by that I don't mean we stole first team players!) First game not to concede, first game we were comfortably on top, first game we had far more play and penalty corners, (and scored from two of them) first game we came away with points AND we are now not bottom of the league. On a cold and crispy morning we followed the little lads on Woodlands pitch with our "Gill, Roz and Ella's Dad" fan club. It took us till half time to score. Penalty corner, Clare to Val who's shot was followed in on the post by Ella. In the second half, much buoyed up by being in the lead, Ian and the boys replaced Gill on the side-line to support Mum, and we continued to play with spirit and enthusiasm. So many chances came and went, shots going wide , keeper saving, and some interesting umpiring. The second goal came near the end. A penalty corner was re-cycled a couple of times before Claire smashed it in. No more than we deserved. Steph tried to kill Colette, while at least I only aimed mine high at the opposition! Gemma came to life in the second half to spare my blushes but had little else to do, for a change. Thanks to Biff for umpiring, and Roz for sorting the subs. MOM votes spread well. 1 each for Odders, Ella, Steph, Alex and Jules. 2 for Claire ("I need to take myself off before I kill someone") Winning with 3 votes each were Rachel and Colette. Val
