Match Report

Derby Ladies 3rds 2 v Ashby 3rds 1(Dog Blog)

So another season begins, and the first friendly as we find out who is playing where. We gained twins, yippee, ups the average age a bit more! but also Keeley and Becky bringing it down again. With Gemma injured, Odders played in goal, and with unavailability we were certainly slightly different, causing Odders to entrust us with a new system. Brave spice!!

Ashby started the stronger, as we struggled to keep possession, and pass to our own team (always a good idea) Their goal came early following poor marking and a defensive error, leaving Odders no chance with the unmarked forward.

However, we kept working and improved throughout the half.

Sweeties kicked us into life, and the second half saw a different team take the pitch. With birthday girl Kerry trying to run 5 miles, and Becky coming alive (keep feeding her jelly babies) we were back in the game when Jan found Jules in space in the D, and she took her time making sure of her finish.

A long corner followed, I found Tracy running excellently in space, a good cross and Jan scored confidently past the GK.

Odders made several saves and good clearances to keep us in front, and with no weaknesses around the team we came out on top. 100% win record. Don't think I said that last season.

Next week the league starts. Let's keep fit and happy girls.

Liverpool won and are still top (after and early scare.) Sue's dogs won rosettes, Kerry's gave birthday cuddles, Mia's is small enough to make dinner for the others, and Ollie is just lovely. May have trained him by the end of the season. Challenge on.

Thanks to Dan for umpiring.

MOM votes: 1 Jules and Clare, 2 for Odders, but newbe Becky won easily with 6. Watch out Rach she's after your crown!!
