Ladies 3rd XI Match Report

DERBY 3RDS 2 --- BURTON 3RDS 5
So into 2017-18 season we go with our usual player crisis (and it all looked so hopeful last Saturday!) The rainy season started, and within 20 minutes we were down to a bare 11. Well done Odders for getting a side out. Hopefully the holiday season will have passed by a bit by next week.
The squad welcomed Alex, Vicky, Claire, Keeley and Jo and of course Gill in goal.
The beginning was a bit of "getting to know you, getting to know all about you" Name the musical? Unfortunately in that time a well organised Burton team had scored 2 goals, and Gill had made a tremendous save under the cross bar. Our one chance this half came from a penalty corner, well struck by Kate, to send us in 2-1 down at half time.
The second half saw us play so much better and take the game to Burton. Now we had them on the back foot and creating many chances. Unfortunately, this gave them opportunity to hit us on the break and score 2 more. Sue then latched onto a neat ball from Kate and calmly score our second, but Burton got one more at the end to leave us with a score-line that did not reflect the play.
As most of you know I'm not at my best with reports when Liverpool have lost, and after a 5-0 drubbing by Man City this was never going to be fun. Also, with no hair or kit violations there's not much else to report. I need Angie to have a go at!!
Thanks to Paul Bradley for umpiring and the 4 players who doubled up for the fours, leaving the rest of us lots of chip butties!!
MOM votes : Kate and Alex received 2 each, but the convincing winner was Rachel.
